Service disruption - Route 5, 6, 16, 58 and 72 trams.
Wednesday 20 October to Friday 22 October 2021
Services on tram routes 5, 6, 16, 58 and 72 are expected to be disrupted as a significant number of Yarra Trams drivers based at the Malvern Depot continue to isolate to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Yarra Trams will endeavour to provide as regular a service as possible across the most impacted routes, but service cancellations are expected.
Positive tests among operational staff have meant that a significant number of drivers based at Yarra Trams’ Malvern Depot have been required to isolate to keep everyone safe. The majority of these employees are secondary contacts and will be permitted to return to work after returning a negative test.
Yarra Trams and the Department of Transport will work closely with the Department of Health as contact tracing continues. We are working to support staff, and are exercising an abundance of caution in the interest of tram drivers, other employees and passengers.
Service Changes
- Route 5 trams will not run between Stop 38 Orrong Road and Melbourne University
- Route 16 trams will not run between Stop 48 Hawthorn Road and Melbourne University
- Route 72 trams will not run between Stop 22 Toorak Road and Melbourne University
- Route 6/58 trams will run normally for most of the day with lower than usual frequencies possible
We will continue to provide regular updates as they become available.
