Stage 1 - Route 58: First to last tram, Wednesday 1 February to Sunday 5 February.
Stage 2 - Route 57 and 59: First to last tram, Sunday 5 February.
Reason for service changes
We're upgrading the tram power supply system by building a new substation in Royal Park Tram Reserve, Parkville.
Service changes
Stage 1:
Buses replace Route 58 trams between Stop 15 Murphy Street and West Coburg.
*Trams will continue to service Royal Children's Hospital until last tram Saturday 4 February only. Passengers travelling further should connect with replacement buses at Stop 15 Murphy Street.
Stage 2:
Buses replace Route 57 trams between Stop 20 Melrose Street and Stop 7 Queen Victoria Market. Connect with Route 19 or Route 59a shuttle trams from Queen Victoria Market to continue your journey to Flinders Street Station.
Route 59 trams will not run between Stop 20 Melrose St and Stop 15 Murphy Street.
Route 59a shuttle trams will run between Stop 1 Flinders Street Station and Stop 15 Murphy Street.
Alternative travel options
- Route 57 & 59 passengers travelling to the city consider trains from Flemington Bridge Station.
- Route 59 passengers also have the option to walk approximately 15mins between Stop 20 Melrose Street and Stop 15 Murphy Street to reconnect with tram services or the replacement bus services for Routes 57 & 58.
Closed Tram Stops
The following stops will not be serviced by Route 58 replacement buses:
- Stop 24 Elliott Avenue
- Stop 25 State Netball Hockey Centre
- Stop 28 Park Street (City bound)
- Stop 45 Bell Street/Melville Street (Passengers to use Stop 44)
Route 57 replacement buses will service all existing trams stops on the route.
