Reason for service change

As part of the Metro Tunnel Project were're working on the new Parkville accessible tram stop.

Tram service changes

  • Route 19 trams run a shortened service between North Coburg and Stop 19 Brunswick Road.
  • Buses replace Route 19 trams between Stop 19 Brunswick Road and Stop 7 Queen Victoria Market.
  • Route 19 shuttle service will run between Stop 7 Queen Victoria Market and Flinders Street Station.

Tram stop changes

The following tram stop will not be serviced by replacement buses during these works:

  • Stop 10 Royal Melbourne Hospital, connect with replacement buses:
    • To Flinders Street Station, walk 120m / 2min towards University of Melbourne PTV bus stop
    • To North Coburg, walk 200m / 3min to Stop 11 University of Melbourne temporary bus stop

Replacement buses

Replacement buses will service temporary bus stops or existing PTV bus stops where possible along Royal Parade. Follow orange signage for directions to temporary stops.

Trams and replacement buses run to a normal frequency during works however, there may be delays due to traffic congestion in the area.

Replacement buses are low-floor accessible depending on availability. Speak to our Customer Service team or alert your driver if you need assistance.

Alternative travel

Consider the following alternative travel options:

  • Catching an Upfield Line train
  • Route 58 along William Street to Royal Melbourne Hospital  
  • Route 59 along Elizabeth Street to Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter MacCalllum Cancer Centre
  • Swanston Street trams travelling to University of Melbourne
