Reason for service changes
Due to road closures associated with the Melbourne Marathon event in the city and St Kilda.
Tram service changes
Affected trams will display ‘a’ alongside their route number to reflect the changes.
4.30am to 11am
- Route 75 trams divert via Spring and La Trobe streets between Lansdowne Street and Central Pier Docklands.
4.30am to 11.05am
- No Route 67 trams run between Arts Precinct and Melbourne Central Station.
5.45am to 11.15am
- No Route 96 trams run between Acland Street and St Kilda Station.
First tram to 11am
- Route 35 trams will not run until 11am.
First tram to 11.05am
- No Route 3a, 5, 16, 64 and 72 trams run between Arts Precinct and Melbourne University.
- Route 1 trams run between East Coburg and South Melbourne Beach, diverting via Kings Way, William Street and La Trobe Street.
- Route 6 trams run in sections with no trams between Melbourne Central Station and Arts Precinct.
First tram to 12pm
- Route 58 trams run in sections with no trams between Wells Street and Anzac Station.
First tram to 1.45pm
- No Route 70 trams run between MCG Gates 4-7 / John Cain Arena and Waterfront City Docklands.
Extra trams
First tram to 11.05am
- Extra trams will run on Swanston Street between Melbourne University and Melbourne Central Station.
4.30am to 11am
- Extra trams will run on Flinders Street between Waterfront City Docklands and Flinders Street Station / Elizabeth Street.
Tram stop closed
The following tram stops will be closed during the event:
Flinders Street corridor:
- Flinders Street Station / Swanston Street (both directions)
- Russell Street / Flinders Street (both directions)
- William Barak Bridge / Batman Avenue (both directions)
- Rod Laver Arena / MCG Gates 1-3 (both directions)
- MCG Gates 4-7 / John Cain Arena (towards Wattle Park only)
- Spring Street / Flinders Street (both directions)
Swanston Street corridor:
- Bourke Street Mall / Swanston Street (both directions)
- Collins Street / Swanston Street (both directions)
- Flinders Street Station / Swanston Street (both directions)
Route 1:
- Sturt Street / Southbank Boulevard (both directions)
- Grant Street / Sturt Street (both directions)
- Miles Street / Sturt Street (both directions)
- Kings Way / Sturt Street (both directions)
Route 96:
- Acland Street (both directions)
- St Kilda Station (towards East Brunswick only)
Alternative travel options
Flinders Street corridor:
- Route 70 passengers can consider City Loop trains from Richmond Station to Flinders Street Station and connect to Route 70a trams from Elizabeth Street / Flinders Street as an alternative.
Swanston Street corridor:
- Swanston Street passengers can consider City Loop trains between Flinders Street Station and Melbourne Central Station and connect to Route 6, 16a and 67a from Melbourne Central as an alternative.
- In addition, passengers can consider Elizabeth Street trams as an alternative.
St Kilda corridor:
- Route 96 passengers can consider Route 3a and 16 trams between Luna Park and Canterbury Road to connect to Route 96 for East Brunswick.
Accessibility
Please note the following changes to accessibility:
- Route 1, 3a, 64, 67, City Circle, 70 and 75 trams are not currently serviced by low-floor trams.
- Route 5, 6, 16, 58 and 72 trams are partly serviced by low-floor trams. Use tramTRACKER app to check the next three trams at your stop.
- Route 96 trams are serviced completely by low-floor trams.
The last accessible stops are:
- On Route 96: St Kilda Station.
- On Route 5, 6, 16 and 72: Arts Precinct.
- On Route 58: Anzac Station and Wells Street.
- On Route 6 and 16a: Melbourne Central Station / Swanston Street.
- On Route 1: RMIT University.
