Reason for service changes
We’re renewing tram tracks and overhead lines along Swanston Street and La Trobe streets.
Tram service changes
Swanston Street:
- No Route 1 and Route 6 trams run between Stop 14 Arts Precinct and Stop 3 Lincoln Square
- Route 3 and Route 67 trams run between south eastern suburbs and Stop 7 Flagstaff Station diverting via William Street
- Route 5, 16 and 72 trams run between south eastern suburbs and Stop 11 Collins Street
- Route 64 trams run between East Brighton and Stop 14 Arts Precinct
The following stops will be closed on Swanston Street during the works:
- Stop 4 Queensberry Street
- Stop 7 RMIT University
- Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station
- Stop 10 Bourke Street Mall
- Stop 11 Collins Street (towards St Kilda)
La Trobe Street:
- Route 30 trams run between Central Pier Docklands and Stop 5 Melbourne Central Station / Elizabeth Street
- Route 35 (City Circle) trams run between Waterfront City Docklands and Stop 6 Russell Street / Flinders Street
The following stops will be closed on La Trobe Street during the works:
- Stop 5 Melbourne Central Station / Elizabeth Street (towards Docklands)
- Stop 6 Melbourne Central Station / Swanston Street
- Stop 7 Russell Street
- Stop 8 Exhibition Street
- Stop 9 La Trobe Street
- Stop 10 Nicholson Street (towards Docklands)
Alternative travel options
Swanston Street passengers may consider:
- Route 19, 57 and 59 trams along Elizabeth Street
- City loop trains.
La Trobe Street passengers may consider:
- Route 86 or 96 trams along Bourke Street
- City loop trains
- Buses along Lonsdale Street (including Route 302, 303, 304, 309 & 318)
